Our next step was to submit a planning application for the new house.
We originally envisaged a single storey house but realised that the build costs in building on one level are much higher than a traditional two storey dwelling. It took us many weeks of researching and planning to eventually decide on a design which would have a minimum impact on the surroundings and would offer us sufficient and comfortable accommodation.
